- Captain Kapil Kundu was one of the young cadets of Indian army who joined after completing the training from the National Defence Academy (NDA).
- He was an IIT aspirant and took coaching from FIITJEE Janakpuri, New Delhi.
- In 2012, he had lost his father on his birthday who died of heart attack.
- On 1 February 2018, he along with three other soldiers Riflemen Ramavatar, Subham Singh, and Havilder Roshan Lal were martyred after when Pakistan fired in Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir suddenly.
