- Along with his brother Markand, he co-founded Shri Adhikari Brothers (SAB) Group in 1985 as a small family owned partnership firm.
- His company initially produced Marathi serials before getting into film production & distribution business.
- A small family-owned firm became first publicly-listed television production company when it was listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, in 1995.
- Gautam directed and produced a number of films, namely Hello Inspector, Commandar, Silsila, Waqt Ki Raftar, Marshall.
