- Madhavan was born to a Tamil family but was raised in Bihar as his father used to work as a management executive in Tata Steel.
- He initially wanted to join defense services and was also awarded Maharashtra’s Best NCC Cadet, later he also got defense training with Army, Navy & Air Force. However, he was rejected later because he crossed the age limit.
- In 1992, he represented India at Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
- After his college, he used to teach communication and public speaking at workshops all over India. At one such workshop in Maharashtra, he met Sarita Birje, an air hostess, who later became his wife in 1999.
- He started modelling in 1996, and his 1st assignment was a commercial for talcum powder, for which he was paid around 100 INR.
- Though he made his Bollywood debut with the film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001), the first movie he did was Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin (1996) in a small role as a singer in a club.
