- He comes from a filmy background as his father, Pankaj Kapur is an acting legend, and his step-mother is also a well-known actress. His great great grandfather was a film director, screenwriter, novelist and journalist.
- Shahid had a difficult childhood as his parents Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem got divorced when he was just 3 years old.
- Since his childhood, he was attracted towards acting and was also starred in Complan advertisement with Ayesha Takia.
- Shahid has worked as a background dancer in movies- Taal and Dil Toh Pagal Hai.
