- Omi was born and raised in California, but he used to visit India every year.
- Vaidya was just 6 when he started acting for some English plays in the US and in Marathi Mandal nataks (shows).
- After graduating from college, he started working with an agent and got some roles in TV commercials.
- The casting director of Arrested Development, an American TV series, in which Omi played a small role, asked him to audition for the role of Sadiq for The Office. He was featured in two of its episodes namely; E-mail Surveillance and Fun Run.
- In 2006, Vaidya was then featured in a Punjabi song Kurti which was sung by Bohemia.
- He earned popularity in India through his supporting role in 3 Idiots, his Bollywood debut film where he played the character of Chatur Ramalingam (“Silencer”), for which, he was kept secret and was not allowed to appear in any interview before the movie was released in 2009. He is best remembered for his character.
- He has since then been featured in several Bollywood films like Players, Desi Boyz, Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji. However, he feels like he is not getting a real, a good character to showcase his abilities.
